Listening to the weather report in Israel, it is common to hear the forecaster announce that it will be hot like usual. Indeed, a visit to Israel usually requires plenty of sunscreen, sunglasses, and warm weather clothing.

In the summer months, from June to September, most of the country is hot and humid and the winter, December to February, is more like an autumn rainy season.

On occasion hot dry winds can send temperatures soaring throughout the country in otherwise more mild seasons. However, depending on which region of Israel you are visiting and the season, there are variations in this pattern.

In the subtropical center of the country, Tel Aviv and surroundings, summers are hot hot hot and winters are typically mild.

The average summer temperature is seventy seven degrees Fahrenheit, but the hottest months, July and August, can reach a steamy ninety degrees with high levels of humidity making the weather feels even hotter.

November to April is the wet season with average yearly rainfall in the region reaching about twenty one inches. In the winter fifty seven degrees Fahrenheit is the average weather.

The spring, March to May, and autumn, September to November, are arguably the most pleasant seasons of the year, averaging between sixty one and seventy fove degrees Fahrenheit.

Jerusalem is located at a higher altitude and therefore experiences relatively cold, wet winters with even snowfall on occasion. Snowfall is quite rare however and is treated with caution by officials and euphoria by residents. Average yearly rainfall is twenty inches.

Different from the country's center summers are hot but quite dry, with low levels of humidity and temperatures averaging around seventy five Fahrenheit.

Pleasant weather days and even more beautiful evenings make Jerusalem an attractive site for visitors in the summer months. In the spring and autumn, temperatures average between about fifty six and seventy five degrees Fahrenheit.   

The northern region

The northern regions of the country, including the Golan Heights, tend to have cooler weather temperatures and more rainfall, averaging between twenty one to twenty eight inches a year. Winter is mild and temperatures range between forty eight to sixty four degrees Fahrenheit.

Highest rainfall and heavy snow falls in the northernmost part of the Golan Heights, where the Hermon Mountain remains snow covered generally throughout the entire winter season.

The Galilee is the wettest region, receiving over forty inches of rain a year.  In the summer, temperatures range from seventy three to eighty eight degrees Fahrenheit, with temperatures in Tiberias, located at a lower altitude, reaching up to 100 degrees.
